Appendix Ⅱ Categories and Missions of Avionics Systems

Introduction In the process of preparing the reports for the Airborne Electronics Forecast, it readily becomes apparent that the three-letter equipment indicators do not give a complete picture of the nature of many of the systems covered. First, many functional categories appear to overlap. Second, and perhaps more important, many systems can be assigned to several different mission areas. This appendix identifies the primary functional category of each system, as well as the mission area or areas applicable to each system.
