"Killer at 70,000 Feet" (Apr./May 2012) struck me in a very personal way, as my family has lived with the story of my mother's brother, Air Force Captain Bruce Gordon Grant (1926-1966). My Uncle Bruce was a Korean War jet pilot and Strategic Air Command pilot (27th Fighter Escort Wing) who resigned his commission to fly for the Central Intelligence Agency as a U-2 pilot in 1956. We have never obtained his official records, but I have a copy of his resume, which says that he was involved in "upper altitude studies in U-2 Aircraft."
