The Stewardess and the Colonel

'The Original Airliner" (In the Museum, Dec. 2011/Jan. 2012), which featured a photo of Colonel Roscoe Turner, made me recall my experiences with him. Turner started Turner Airlines in 1949 with two DC-3s and a twin-engine Beechcraft at Weir-Cook Airport in Indianapolis, Indiana; the following year, it became Lake Central Airlines, serving some of the Midwest states.
