Artists on War

ON APRIL 6,1917, the United States entered World War I, a turning point in the nation's history that still reverberates through world events a century later. The National Air and Space Museum's centerpiece presentation in observance of the 100th anniversary of this landmark is "Artist Soldiers: Artistic Expression in the First World War," a new exhibition i in the Museum's Flight in the Arts gallery. A collaboration with the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, the exhibition features rarely seen artwork, produced by soldiers, that sheds new light on World War I in a compelling and very human way. The exhibition is on view from April 6,2017, through November 11,2018. The Museum is also featuring a monthly film series, "Hollywood Goes to War: World War I on the Big Screen," from February through November 2017, as well as a variety of other public programs.
