MACT Standards Proposed for Brick and Clay Products Manufacturing

On December 18, 2014 (79 FR 75622-75719), EPA proposed national emission standards for hazardous air pollutants (NESHAPS) for brick and structural clay products manufacturing, as well as NESHAPS for clay ceramics manufacturing. The proposed standards address the 2007 vacatur and remand of EPA's original NESHAPS for the brick and structural clay products industry by a federal appeals court. Under the latest action, EPA is proposing that all major sources in the two categories meet MACT standards for mercury, non-mercury metal HAPs (or PM surrogate), and dioxins/ furans (clay ceramics only); health-based standards for acid gas HAPs; and work practice standards, where applicable.
