German Naval Aviation Begins to Leave Kiel

Marinefliegergeschwader 5 (Naval Aviation Wing 5, MFG 5) began the process of leaving Kiel-Holtenau on June 22/23 as part of a plan to reorganise the German navy's aviation assets. All flying units will be concentrated at Nordholz, which will house MFG 3 equipped with Lockheed P-3C Orions and Dornier Do 228s; and MFG 5, which will become responsible for all helicopter operations with Westland Sea King Mk 41s and Super Lynx Mk 88As. Currently the Super Lynx are assigned to 2 Staffel of MFG 3.
