The US Marine Corps has completed training its final class of aviators to fly the CH-46E Sea Knight assault transport helicopter, with the Marine Medium Helicopter Training Squadron 164, based at MCAS Camp Pendleton, California, processing its last CH-46E pilot, 1st Lt Zerbin Singleton, on May 23. HMM(T)-164 is scheduled to switch from its operational conversion role to become an operational MV-22B Osprey squadron as Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 164 (VMM-164). In related news, the Corps' second-to-last CH-53D Sea Stallion unit, Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363 (HMH-363), was redesignated VMM-363 on May 10 as it prepared for transition to the MV-22B. VMM-363 was assigned from Marine Air Group 24 at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, to MCAS Miramar, California, for the transition. The squadron is expected to return to Kaneohe Bay in 2015.
