Negotiations between Saudi Arabia and BAE Systems covering the sale of 48 Eurofighter Typhoons are expected to be concluded shortly. Saudi Arabia ordered 72 Typhoons under the Salam contract, with the first 24 assembled by BAE Systems at Warton, Lancashire, and delivered to the kingdom by July 2011 (see Latest Saudi Typhoon Deliveries, August 2011, p21). Under the original agreement signed in September 2007 the other 48 were due to be assembled in Saudi Arabia, but negotiations to change aspects of the programme have caused delays.
