Third Generation' Tiltrotor Revealed

Bell has revealed details of the V-280 Valor, which the company describes as a 'third generation tiltrotor'. Detail of the design was presented at the 2013 Army Aviation Association of America's Annual Professional Forum and Exposition held at Fort Worth, Texas, on April 10. It is being developed primarily to fulfil upcoming requirements underthe US Army's Joint Multi Role (JMR) technology demonstration phase for the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) programme. The designation of the tiltrotor includes V for vertical (take off and landing) and 280 for its cruise speed in knots.
