Argentina Reports Low Readiness Levels

A report released by Argentinean parliamentary deputy Julio Martinez of the Union Civica Radical (Radical Civic Union) party on March 10 says only around 16% of the Fuerza Aerea Argentina's (Argentine Air Force's) aircraft are operationally ready. This compares to around 50% in countries such as Brazil and Chile (a level Argentina maintained between 2001 and 2003) and more than 75% in the US or France. Argentina achieved a 30% level of operational readiness between 2005 and 2010. The report describes the current state of readiness as the worst since the 1982 Falklands/Malvinas conflict.
