October Opening Planned for DWC

Passenger operations at Dubai World Central (DWC) Al Maktoum International Airport will start on October 27. Saudi Arabian airline nasair and Polish low-cost carrier Wizz Air will be the first two passenger airlines to operate into the airport. Cargo operations at DWC began in 2010 and passenger flights were due to start in 2011, but the development of facilities delayed the project. The airport will have five runways and sit at the heart of an industrial, retail and residential complex. It has been designed to eventually handle 160 million passengers per year and will replace the existing Dubai International hub.
