Tankers Forward Deployed to Mazar-e-Sharif

A US Air Force detachment of Boeing KC-135 Stratotankers has been forward deployed to Mazar-e-Sharif Airport in Afghanistan from Al Udeid AB in Qatar. Assigned to the 340th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron (EARS) Detachment 1, the aircraft will be used to support the coalition's military withdrawal from Afghanistan. KC-135Rs of the 912th Air Refueling Squadron, 452nd Air Mobility Wing based at March Joint Air Reserve Base, California, are among the tankers flown by the 340th EARS.
