GECAS HAS firmed up three options with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for the company's Boeing 777-300ERSF passenger-to-freighter conversion, aka the Big Twin Freighter.The lessor's total commitment for the aircraft now consists of 18 firm orders and a further 12 options, including the prototype aircraft (the 2005-vintage ex-Emirates A6-EBB, c/n 32789 and now N557CC) from GECAS's portfolio that is currently undergoing modification and testing in lAI's Tel Aviv facility,GECAS has also recently announced that Kalitta Air has signed a contract to lease a further two examples of the Big Twin Freighter from the company. In October 2020, Kalitta agreed to lease three 777-300ERSFs from GECAS. It will be the launch operator for the converted jet in 2023.
