ISRAEL AEROSPACE Industries (IAI) and GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) have passed the planned halfway point in their work to obtain a supplemental type certificate for their Boeing 777-300ERSF converted freighter.Rich Greener, SVP and manager of GECAS Cargo, explained: "We've begun executing on the dedicated freighter design developed by the IAI and GECAS Cargo team towards manufacturing the kits, and the actual conversion phase under licensing from Boeing."Marketed as the Big Twin Freighter, the 777-300ERSF is the initial passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversion for a 777-300ER. The first jet to undergo modification by IAI is the 2005-vintage N557CC (c/n 32789), which was previously with Emirates as A6-EBB.This aircraft is undergoing what an IAI/GECAS statement described as "pre-conversion preparation" before physical conversion work starts on P2F Line 1 in lAI's Tel Aviv facility.
