Supporting flight safety

L3HARRIS TECHNOLOGIES has launched a flight safety support service to provide operators with expert analysis and investigation capabilities. Norwegian start-up airline Flyr will be the new service's first customer. Analysing and investigating data from the company's Flight Data Connect solution, an advanced web-based flight data monitoring platform, the support service will provide "fast, accurate mapping of flights in graphical and 3D formats", according to L3Harris. Statistical models and machine learning will present "specific actionable insights", the company added, with all data aligned and tailored to each customer's safety operating procedures. Alan Crawford, president of L3Harris Commercial Aviation, said the new service "further enhances our capacity to support airlines", while Flyr's director of safety and compliance, Tom-Arild Bogstad, commented: "As a newly launching airline, we are excited to be working with L3Harris, which can safely and effectively co-ordinate the flight data monitoring for our fleet. L3Harris's expert analysis and investigation capability will enable Flyr to release pilots from the office and will drive our safety operations."
