Vertiport in Shannon

SHANNON, IRELAND will be home to a vertiport for cargo and passenger operations with electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) systems, under a new memorandum of understanding.Several parties are involved in the project: Future Mobility Campus Ireland (FMCI); Avtrain, a drone training and certification body; and Shannon Group's International Aviation Services Centre, which supports the aviation cluster located at Shannon.Proof-of-concept flights are planned to take place at FMCI's Shannon campus, located adjacent to Shannon Airport, as early as September. The partnership will work towards launching an operational vertiport at the campus in 2022 to encourage participation and investment in advanced aerial mobility (aka urban air mobility) in Ireland.
