H130 for Vertex

AIRBUS WILL, test new onboard equipment on its H130 Flightlab helicopter designed to facilitate navigation and route preparation,automatic take-offs and landings and following a predefined flight path.The Vertex project will test a two-axis camera, infrared camera and LIDAR sensor, along with algorithms for situational awareness and obstacle detection, an improved fly-by-wire system and an advanced human/machine interface consisting of a touchscreen and "head worn display."Vertex will assess how these new technologies might simplify mission management, reduce pilot workload and increase safety, as well as potentially contribute to future urban air mobility and autonomous flight projects.The full demo is planned for 2023.
