A contract valued at $1.32 billion was awarded by US Naval Air Systems Command on September 26 to Boeing's McDonnell Douglas subsidiary for procurement of 24 F/A-18F Super Hornets for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). This follows signature of a contract in May between thernAustralian Department of Defence and the US Navy for these aircraft (see Military News, June, p7). Production of all 24 Super Hornets is scheduled for completion in July 2011.
