When the ceasefire agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan was signed on November 10, 2020, Russia began to deploy helicopters to the region. The military contingent from Ulyanovsk, Russia, flew to the Erebuni base near Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, and from there a further 300km to Nagorno-Karabakh. During the first day, 23 Ⅱ-76 and four An-124 transport aircraft of the Russian military transport aviation performed 27 flights, transferring 414 soldiers, 54 vehicles and other equipment. The following day saw the same 23 Ⅱ-76s with two An-124s fly to Armenia. According to the ceasefire agreement, the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh will have 1,960 soldiers, 90 armoured personnel carriers and 380 other vehicles and special equipment. The contingent is formed from the 15th Independent Mechanised Infantry Brigade belonging to the Central Military District of Russia.
