China announced on January 8 that it will build a new helicopter production facility in accordance with its current Five-Year Plan. The new factory will be set up at Tianjin in northern China and it should be rolling out its first helicopters later this year.rnA new company, China Aviation Industry Helicopter Corporation (CAIHC), will produce both medium and heavy helicopters for military and civilian needs at the factory. CAIHC will also assume control of the business assets and activities of the China Helicopter Research and Development Institute at Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province; Harbin Aircraft Industry Co of Harbin, Heilongjiang Province; Changhe Aircraft Industries Corp of Jiangxi Province and the Baoding Propeller Factory based at Baodingrnin Hebei Province. The state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) will hold 69% of CAIHC, while the Tianjin municipal government will own the rest.
