Russian Fire Fighting

Almost one million hectares of forest and peat land has been burnt this summer in the European part of Russia. On August 10, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin flew over the fire area near Ryazan onboard a fire-fighting Beriev Be-200. Twice Putin's Be-200 uploaded water from the Oka River and dropped it on the fire. Putin was piloting the aircraft for some of the mission and reportedly pushed the water dropping button. In the past such actions by Putin were welcomed by Russians, now however, most of the comments about him are unfriendly.
