Fire Scout Military Utility Assessment

Northrop Grumman announced on November 24 that it had delivered the third and final example of the MQ-8B Fire Scout Vertical Takeoff and Landing Tactical Unmanned Air Vehicle (VTUAV) covered by the first year of Lot Rate Initial Production. The first two were used in the Fire Scout Military Utility Assessment operational deployment onboard the USS McInemey. Four deployments on the guided-missile frigate were completed from December 2008, during which 110 take-offs and landings were made, including 45 using the harpoon grid. The VTUAVs accumulated 47 hours of flight time during the deployments.
