Seastar CD2 Makes First Flight DORNIER'S FIRST New Generation Seastar CD2 amphibious, fixed-wing turboprop prototype successfully passed a major milestone by taking to the skies for the first time. It made a 31-minute flight on March 28 from the company's headquarters at Oberpfaffenhofen Airport in Bavaria, under the control of a test crew from Dornier Seawings. This follows the company receiving test flight approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Germany's Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA, Federal Aviation Office) in mid-March,Chief test pilot Wolfram Cornelius said: "The first flight was completed successfully and confirmed the nice handling qualities of the Seastar... All systems functioned correctly. The advanced avionic system reflects the state-of-the-art in cockpit design and is a good baseline for future development."
