Wingcopter to Deliver UPS'S DRONE delivery subsidiary, UPS Flight Forward (UPSFF), is to collaborate with the German UAV specialist Wingcopter to develop what it calls "the next generation of package delivery drones."The joint project is the first between UPSFF and an unmanned systems manufacturer. It involves both parties working towards attaining US Federal Aviation Administration certification for a Wingcopter system to make commercial delivery flights in the US. UPS wants to establish what it calls "a diverse fleet of drones with varying capabilities to meet even more potential customer needs." Bala Ganesh, vice president of the UPS Advanced Technology Group, commented: "Drone delivery is not a one-size-fits-all operation. Our collaboration with Wingcopter helps pave the way for us to start drone delivery service in new use cases."
