Avengers Delivered to Ascent

Cobham Aviation Services delivered four modified Beechcraft King Air 350CERs to Ascent Flight Training Limited at Bournemouth International Airport, Hampshire on June 9. Known as Avengers, the aircraft will be used for the training of Royal Navy Observers under the United Kingdom Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) programme. Wearing full Royal Navy titles and registered ZZ500 to ZZ503, they are due to be delivered by the end of June to 750 Naval Air Squadron (NAS) at Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Culdrose, Cornwall. The first intake of Observer students due to train on the Avengers will arrive at Culdrose after completing initial training at RAF Barkston Heath, Lincolnshire. After being selected to provide the UKMFTS in mid-2008, Ascent gave the contract to Cobham in mid-2009 (valued at approximately £20 million) to convert the four aircraft, with the work beginning in May 2010.
