Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways placed orders for 27 new long-haul airliners on March 9 at the Asian Aerospace event held in Hong Kong. Agreements were signed with Airbus for 15 A330-300s and with Boeing for ten 777-300ERs. In a separate deal the carrier will lease two Airbus A350-900s from the International Lease Finance Corporation. All 27 aircraft will be delivered by the end of 2015. A further deal was signed with Rolls-Royce for Trent 700 powerplants for the A330s on the same day. The airline currently operates the largest fleet of the variant, primarily on services in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, and the Middle East. The latest order will be fulfilled between 2013 and 2015.
