Air Parade

The victory parades held each May 9 in Moscow's Red Square have got bigger every year since the end of the Cold War. This year's involved more than 16,000 soldiers, 194 vehicles and 143 aircraft and helicopters. The flypast was opened by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force, Colonel General Viktor Bondarev, flying a Tu-160 strategic bomber at 300 knots (555km/h) and 1,150ft (350m).
