A380s Head Iran's Airbus Orders

Iranian officials have signed provisional agreements over the acquisition of nearly 160 airliners for the country's flag carrier, Iran Air, after the lifting of western sanctions on the country. An agreement with Airbus covers 118 aircraft, comprising 12 A380s, 16 A350-1000s, 18 A330-900neos, 27 A330ceos, 24 A320neos and 21 A320ceos. A separate agreement was signed with ATR covering the sale of up to 40 ATR 72-600S turboprops to Iran Air, comprising 20 firm orders and 20 options. In addition to the aircraft sales, Iran also inked a cooperation agreement with Airbus for the European company to support the development of Iran's air navigation services, airport and aircraft harmonisation, maintenance and repair facilities, and technical and academic training. The deals were announced at the Elysee Palace, Paris, during Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's official visit to France.
