The pliers (1) have two branches (20, 21) articulated with respect to each other. The branches are provided with ends forming noses (20a, 21a), respectively. Flat smooth jaws (25, 26) are respectively equipped in the noses. The jaws extend transversal to a longitudinal axis of the pliers. The jaws are perpendicularly oriented with respect to each other when the pliers are in empty position. Gripping ends (20b, 21b) are arranged in the branches opposite to the noses, respectively. An independent claim is also included for a method for installing a seal inside a groove.
