Nuclear Bombers Shift to Global Strike Command

Air Force Global Strike Command on Feb. 1 took responsibility from Air Combat Command for the service's B-2A and B-52H bomber units, which are aligned under 8th Air Force, thereby completing the consolidation of the service's nuclear-capable assets under the new major command.rnLt. Klotz, AFGSC commander, said on the occasion of the bomber transfer that these aircraft "remain critically important" to the US and its global friends and allies in their role as part of the US nuclear deterrent force.
