I found your recent HVAC and COVID-19 article valuable. see that ultraviolet C (UV-C) light is mentioned as a possible remedy. I've been following a number of the marketing schemes on the internet and TV for UV-C devices for consumers and businesses. Unfortunately, many of them are scams. Some are blatantly dishonest. At the least, they make untrue statements, perhaps in ignorance but still attempting to make money off unverified claims. I have seen no major manufacturer rating their UV-C systems to destroy COVID-19 viruses. There has been some discussion of so-called "far" UV-C light being effective, but what I've seen is only speculation and not based on true research. I see no product that offers true clinical studies to verify such claims. Saying it works on mold and bacteria "so it oughta work on COVID" is not quite honest. There are contractors (many of them not HVAC licensed) selling cleaning and UV-C services that I fear are not fully ethical, even though they may honestly misunderstand that UV-C is only effective on bacterial and mold on surfaces at close proximity. Major manufacturers I have researched do not proclaim removal of contaminants from airflow using UV-C.
