LIBERTY BELLE UPDATE

With the events of 13 June 2011, a lesser man than Don Brooks would have simply turned his back and walked away. On that date, the Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress Liberty Belle (USAAF 44-85734/N390TH) - a Fort known and loved by the readers ot Air Classics- experienced an in-flight fire. The crew set the plane gear down in a muddy field near Aurora, Illinois, with no injuries to anyone involved. The local fire department arrived on the scene but would not take their truck out into the field. The fire spread and the majority of the airframe was destroyed or damaged.
