Turf war profits Sonelgaz

A power struggle between energy minister Youcef Yousfi and the boss of the oil group Sonatrach has turned to the advantage of Sonatrach's rival, Sonelgaz. Over the past month, the Sonelgaz utility has been the lone Algerian company authorized to invest in power projects abroad, and to export electricity. That's the consequence of a decree drafted by the staff of energy minister Yousef Yousfi and approved by president Abdelaziz Bouteflika on June 2.
