Burkinabe businessman Mahamadou Bonkoungou hadbeen battling for more than year (AI, 16/04/21),mobilising his impressive networks, to win the contractto fix up one of West Africa's key arteries: a 450-kmcoast road between Abidjan and the cocoa port of SanPedro. The 313bn CFA franc (€477m) three-lot contractwas awarded to Ivorian firm PFO Africa, in partnershipwith Razel-Bec (a subsidiary of BTP Fayat), and Sogea-Satom. The two companies, which are already active inIvory Coast, enjoyed the support of French economyminister Bruno Le Maire, who visited Abidjan last monthto promote the interests of his country's businesses (AI,13/05/21).
