Although Mozambique and Guinea Bissau have not yet ratified the African Union's African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the United Nations wants to coach Portuguese-speaking African states on the subject in a string of seminars from 26 April to 21 May. The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, based in Addis Ababa, has invited finance, economic planning and trade officials from Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau and Sao Tome and Principe to take part in the event. The UN is hoping the session will help Portuguesespeaking African states identify ways they are able to benefit from the AfCFTA and join forces to defend their common interests.
