Local fertiliser importers despair as Lourenco procrastinates over tender

Though not officially cancelled, the Angolan state's tender for the import of fertilisers needed for the country's next agricultural season is on rocky ground. It is (almost) already too late for Antonio Francisco de Assis' Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to launch its international public tenders for urea, NPK and sulphuric acid, then receive the applications, select the winners, and import the products. These then need to be mixed by local blenders to meet local farmers' specific requirements before they can use them on their crops. Given that the 2020/2021 agricultural season starts this month, that is a tall challenge!
