Paul Kagame chooses former minister of the Seychelles, Jean-Paul Adam, to help with mining

Under the leadership of CEO Francis Gatare since its creation in Rwanda in 2017 to coordinate the country's extractive industry, the Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board (RMB) now has a board of directors. Though six of its members are Rwandans with high levels of expertise in mining, the seventh member and chairman of the board, appointed by president Paul Kagame, is Jean-Paul Adam of the Seychelles. There, he served as minister of foreign affairs (2010-2015), of finance, (2015-2016) and of health and social affairs (2016-2020). At the beginning of the year, he became director of climate change, natural resource management and technology at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
