Ghana's surprise decision to abandon the public-private partnership (PPP) on the Accra-Tema highway upgrade has come as a bombshell to the Franco-Portuguese consortium which earlier this year won the original call for tenders. The consortium is made up of the Portuguese construction giant Mota-Engil, the French engineering company Egis, the private equity firm African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), and the French stateowned investment vehicle Stoa Infra & Energy (Africa Intelligence, 15/05/20).
