Maritime security project Deep Blue keeps it Dutch with delivery of De Haas speedboats

As part of the Deep Blue mega-project to secure Nigerian waters, which is led by the Israeli company HLSI-Blue Octagon, Dutch shipbuilder De Haas Maassluis has delivered ten DHM1050 rigid-hull inflatable boats (RHIB) that should improve the intervention capacity of the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA). The vessels are part of a batch of 17 that will eventually protect the Nigerian coastline as well as some inland Niger Delta waterways. With a top speed of 60 knots (110 km/h) the boats were designed in collaboration with the Estonian company Baltic Workboats and are fitted with Yamaha engines. De Haas is a family business specialising in making and maintaining naval vessels. Run by Govert de Haas, it has been based in Rotterdam since 1879.
