摘要

The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, which would involve the use of buses carrying up to 205 people and operating on specially reserved routes, is a key component in the Conakry urban development plan (PDU) submitted to the Guinean authorities in late 2019. It could, however, be jeopardised by the economic crisis resulting from the pandemic. In its Guinean transport sector support programe, the World Bank planned to include a section on the PDU and possibly contribute to the cost of feasibility studies for Conakry's BRT project. The current economic climate, combined with the prospect of elections and uncertainty about Alpha Condé's chances of running for a third term as president, could encourage the bank to postpone its support for the project, however. The project's promoters had been hoping to get support quickly following the bank's announcement that it was providing $300m each for BRT projects in Dakar and Abidjan.
