A new name popped up on Mauritius' company register on 23 July: B2Gold Zimbabwe Holdings Limited. The name B2Gold Zimbabwe Holdings has also been reserved with the island's authorities. In May 2019, B2Gold, a Canadian firm led by Clive Johnson and owner of the Fekola gold mine in Mali and Otjikoto mine in Namibia, was forced to stamp out a rumour that it had supposedly bought the Shamva mine in northwest Zimbabwe. Shamva was owned by South African mine mogul Mzi Khumalo's Metallon Corp until he sold it in July to Landela Mining Ventures, run by Zimbabwe entrepreneur Kuda Tagwirei (Africa Intelligence, 17/07/20).
