NIGERIA NNPC’s scathing retort to Chevron/Equinor over court bias

After letting Chevron and Equinor play the trump card in their defence - a show of support from the former Lagos attorney general Olasupo Shashore - NNPC is now preparing its response. The Nigerian public firm, which the oil and gas duo has accused of taking a larger share of revenue from OML 128 than it was due, is hoping to win its case thanks to input from Fidelis Oditah. Oditah is the chairman of the Nigerian arm of the powerful International Law Association. He supports NNPC’s position that the case should not be heard by an American court. Chevron and Equinor argue that Nigeria’s courts lack impartiality and the dispute needs to be settled outside of the country ( AEI 858).
