NIGERIA Equinor and Chevron take new swipe at NNPC over Agbami debt

Equinor and Chevron’s Nigerian subsidiarieshave not given up hope of beingreimbursed by NNPC for nearly $1 billionin alleged overpayments on OML 128, onwhich sits the giant Agbami field. Thefirms submitted detailed witness reportsfrom two experts on Nigerian law to theNew York federal court at the end ofJanuary. The witnesses in question areOlasupo Shashore, former Lagos Stateattorney general, and BabatundeFagbohunlu, whose company Aluko &Oyebode is well established in theNigerian economic capital. Shashore andOyebode believe that the Lagos federalhigh court’s cancellation of the arbitrationruling made in favour of Equinor andChevron is undergrounded and that thedispute should be settled in a US court.
