The new managing director of PerencoRDC, Gregoire de Courcelles, is expectedin Muanda, in the Congolese Kongo Centralprovince, by the end of the month. Althoughhe is stepping out of the general managementof the Guatemalan branch of theFrench Perrodo family firm, Courcelles ison familiar territory in Africa. He previouslyworked for Total in Uganda and then Gabon.As it does in Guatemala, Perenco also operatesall of Congo-K’s crude oil output, whichsits between 20,000 bpd and 25,000 bpd.The group forged strong ties with theKinshasa government during JosephKabila’s era and is working on gainingsimilar influence under Felix Tshisekedi,particularly through its vice presidentYvonne Mbala ( AEI 825).
