UN deploys UAVs for first time

The United Nations has begun flights of a Selex-operated Falco UAV to support its peacekeeping operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The unarmed Falco is the first UAV to be used by the UN, following an agreement signed in July. The UAVs are expected to provide full 24hr surveillance for the UN MONUSCO mission by March 2014.
