Only two countries outside the UK operated the Lincoln; Australia and Argentina. Paraguay ordered three aircraft, but the order was cancelled and none was delivered there. As with the RAF, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) underwent much reorganisation after the second World War, many squadrons disbanding. However, the Service needed modernising and the Lincoln was selected as its heavy bomber. In early 1946 an order was placed with the Government Aircraft Factory (GAF) at Fisherman's Bend, near Melbourne, Victoria, initially to supply 61 Lincoln B.2s, which were given the RAAF designation B.30.
