While the first civilian operator to put the Sea Fury to use employed the type as a target tug, as CHRIS FARARA explains, increasingly modified Furies and Sea Furies were soon making their mark on the racing scene.rnRefurbished sea Furies were flown by the German company Deutsche Luftfahrt Bera-tungsdienst (DLB- German Aviation Advisory Service), contracted to provide target-towingfacilities for the Luftwaffe and for army and navy anti-aircraft gunners.rnThe DLB bought 16 refurbished FAA T.20s and one refurbished FAA FB.11. These were equipped for target-towing and had their arrester hooks removed. The DLB aircraft were in service from 1958 to 1970, by which time five had crashed. The survivors were disposed of to museums and to private buyers in the USA.
