Spitfire completed

The vorld's only airworthy Spitfire Mk IA emerged from Personal Plane Services' paint shop at Booker airfield in its original colour scheme during early March. The fighter, AR213/ G-AIST, has been restored to stock Mk IA condition over the past six years (see News, January Aeroplane) and now looks exactly as it did when taken on charge by 57 OTU at Hawarden in July 1941. On March 18Jonathon Whaley took the aircraft aloft, the first time that an authentically-configured and -painted Mk I has flown since the war.
