Sir, Thanks for the largely excellent article in Octobers Aeroplane entitled Shapes in the Sky. I found Peter Davison's text absorbing and it certainly shed some light on the history of aircraft identification. The article mentioned both the Royal Observer Corps and ATC, and after I had gained my Air Spotter's badge in the Scouts I moved from there into the ATC and joined the Royal Observer Corps when I was 17 in 1989, alternating ROC duty with ATC activities.
