D.H. chairman's King's Cup racing Moth back in Britain

The DE Havilland D.H.60M Moth racer built in 1930 for D.H. company chairman Alan Butler recently arrived back in Britain after 75 years in New Zealand. Metal Moth G-AAXG made its first flight after reassembly in the hands of noted Moth restorer Henry Labouchere at a strip in Norfolk on September 17. Butler's Moth incorporated many modifications, including a transparent front cockpit cover, redesigned cabane struts and lowered Gipsy II engine with revised cowlings. He flew it to second place in the 1930 King's Cup race before selling it to Edouard Bret, who won France's 1,036-mile crosscountry Zenith Cup race in it in 1930 and 1931. In 1935 it went to new Zealand as ZK-ADF.
